Update on David Braithwaite
Saturday, 21 August 2010 19:01

Secretary Mike Rapley spoke to David on Saturday evening, August 21 and he is fine, though still a bit wobbly.

Nick and Diane Shield got him and his van back home from hospital on Tuesday evening and since then he's been taking it easy until he started taking walks around his village on Friday.

He can't drive for a couple of weeks but has ordered a new bike and is sure to be back in full action within a month or so. As we siad last time, he sends his thanks to all who have enquired after his health.

David Braithwaite is on the mend
Monday, 16 August 2010 20:15

Two items of news for the Lancs County site. If you rode in Sunday’s trial at Drunkenbridge you will know that we had to call out the North West Air Ambulance to David Braithwaite who collapsed at section six on the first lap.

He was air-lifted to Lancaster Infirmary and after 24 hours of tests it appears that he has suffered a minor stroke. Thankfully, when Club Chairman Chris Kirkbride and Secretary Mike Rapley visited him on Monday night, it was apparent that after a shaky 24 hours, he was well on the way to recovery and it seemed likely that he would be discharged on Tuesday to return home and told to take things easy for a while.

Dave sends his thanks to all who have enquired after his well being both at the trial and since, and he says that he hopes to be back in action as soon as he is considered well enough.

On a separate note, at the last Wednesday evening trial there were two separate incidents involving riders questioning an observing decision. We know the details of both but don’t intend to repeat them, except to remind everybody that all observing decisions are cut and dried, no matter whether you consider them to be right or wrong.

As a club we try very hard to get everything right by providing sections that are suitable for the event and despite the difficulty in getting observers, we have an enthusiastic nucleus who enjoy what they do, but certainly don’t want any confrontation. Our sport is very low key with nothing to be gained from it except lots of pleasure and the possibility of a £15 Halfords voucher at the end of the year, so no matter what you think, let it rest and accept the decision for what it is.

Thanks folks.

If you've been looking at this site since the last evening trial you'll know that we've been having trouble posting stuff on here.

However, we hope it is now all sorted thanks to 34SP our site hosts who are most helpful.

Results attached from Middle/Higher Salter Farms (Drunkenbridge) of the August 15 trial and as you can see the scores are quite high. But that's the nature of this slippery venue and we know that whilst the scores are high, there was nothing silly or dangerous.

Thanks to Nick Shield for marking out and for those who would like to know, David Braithwaite was taken to Lancaster Infirmary following his collapse and has been kept in overnight. We'll post more news as we learn it but wish him all the best for a quick recovery.

Well done to the Air Ambulance for the quick response and of course you may remember that for the past two years proceeds from the January 1 trial have gone to the NW Air Ambulance,

Thanks also to the observers and to Tommy Woodhouse and Graham Ibbetson for the use of their land.

The next trial is on Septembr 19, most probably at James Alpe's farm at Dunsop Bridge but we'll confirm one way or another nearer the time.

|You probably noticed photographers at the trial; they are from Lakes Personalised Prints and can provide any of the pictures taken on various items of clothing, mugs, stationery etc that was displayed at their caravan. You can contact them on 01229 582001.

Tuesday, 10 August 2010 19:04

This is a test piece being written for the benefit of 34SP, the system provider. This will now be saved, then I shall try to re-enter and edit.

Updated Sunday 15 following a correction by 34SP to see if this works.
