Kiaran Hankin has ridden a number of Lancs County trials this year with his best result being second in the air-cooled monoshock class of our national Angela Redford Trial. And he was on course for a great result at our first Birkett Motosport evening trial in May until his 250 Honda played up, causing him to miss some sections as darkness fell.

But whilst trials has been Kiaran's main interest until recently, he's now into road racing in a big way, and it was in the Isle of Man that he notched up some great results when he rode a 1000cc Honda Fireblade in three TT races and his 675 Triumph Three in a further two, notching up fantastic race finishes in all five TTs.

The 2009 TT week was just the second TT experience for Kiaran who only took up road racing a few seasons ago, so his excellent results this year bode well for the future.

The Superbike race opened the action on the first Monday having been delayed by two days and in that race, won at record speed by John McGuinness, Kiaran finished 26th with a race average of 116.891 mph.

Aboard his 675 Triumph in the two Supersport races he was 38th in the first at 115.924 mph average, and in the second race, held in damp and slippery conditions, though his race speed of 113.848 was slower, he finished much higher in 22nd place.

Back on the Honda Fireblade in the Superstock race he finished 35th at 117.710 but there was more to come in the big race of the week, the Blue Riband Senior TT, where he finished a fantastic 20th, with the fastest average of the week, some 118.419 mph. And it was in this race, held in superb conditions, that Hanks notched up a best lap speed of the week at 120.532 mph.

So whilst Lancs County will probably not be seeing much of Kiaran this summer with all his road racing commitments, we'll wish him the best for the season.
