WE'VE GOT THE CERTIFICATE!
Tuesday, 14 July 2009 18:27

It's pretty easy to knock the ACU and ask what do you get for your money - the money we as a club pay to the ACU as a percentage of each rider's entry fee.

Well, most of the ACU work is in the background, but to see what has happened most recently, let's give a few details.

Recently, the ACU has been engaged in much political lobbying with the aim of creating an environment in which motorcycle sport can flourish. The ACU has been joined by the AMCA and the Motorcycle Industry Association, lobbying government, in particular the department of Transport and the Health and Safety Executive as well as local authorities and the National Farmers Union.

Much of the discussion relates to motorcycle evnts that fall short of the standards expected these days and the aim of the lobbying was to show that the organisations ACU, AMCA, MCI adhere strictly to laid down rules and regulations under which all events are run.

This Code of Practice has been put forward to these official bodies in a document which  authorities can rely upon to be adhered to.

However, clubs of other organisations sometimes do not meet the standards set by the ACU, AMCA and MCI, so to give official bodies some guidance as to which clubs they can rely upon to provide the best organisation, each ACU, AMCA and MCI club or group, has been issued with a Certificate of Compliance which can be produced should the need arise.

As far as Lancs County goes, there is no extra work involved, for we run our events strictly to the ACU's rules, but it's good to be part of a large organisation which seeks to keep standards high. We've got the Certificate so you can rest assured that Lancs County events are run to the highest standards with all the relevent rules, regulations and insurances adhered to.
