SUNDAY SERIES ROUND 3
Monday, 29 June 2009 18:18

Our third Sunday series event was held at Barkingate Farm Roboerndale on sunday in glorious sunshine, some might say it was bordering on too hot but i say the more global warming the better! The trial was the usual excellent mix of very trickey streams with one very muddy one thrown in to stop us going home clean! Thanks to Nick and team for agood days sport,Di for once again making sure all sections were manned,Hanna for doing at least as good a job as her dad with the entries, all the trusty willing observers without whom it would end up being a lottery and a big thank you Chris from all the riders for doing the results.

THANKS TO IAN, SSDT CHARITY WINS
Wednesday, 24 June 2009 19:14

This is the new Lancs County MCC website, which has been up and running for a couple of weeks now.

It was designed and is administered by Ian Beardsall, better known as Atomant on Trials Central. He offered to build the site when we enquired, but he refused to accept any payment for doing the work and instead asked Lancs County to make a donation to the SSDT charity, which this year is Cystic Fibrosis.

So we are pleased to report that Lancs County have today sent a significant cheque to the SSDT Secretary Mairi Jenkins, who will forward the cheque onto the charity.

Potential riders in our trial on Sunday, June 28 should note that the entries at Barkingate will be taken by Anna Rapley as her dad is on holiday and Chris Kirkbride will be handling the results. Nick Shield will be marking out the course at this popular venue. Full details can be viewed by clicking on the date on the calendar.

RETURN OF THE 349 MONTESA/HONDA
Friday, 19 June 2009 19:30

There's never many twin-shocks in Lancs County trials, but one rider who is persevering with one of the least popular twin-shocks is Robert Taylor who has recently been campaigning a 349 Montesa/Honda.

Made around 1983-85, there were a significant number of these bikes at the time but they fetch little money now when they come up for sale, with the result that Robert and his dad Dave have a collection numbering several!

Robert has been riding the best of the bunch for several months now and whilst he's probably the first to admit they are not that competitive when campaigned in modern trials, he did have a good result on his at the recent evening trial when he finished seventh overall.

The next best bike has been loaned out to several riders for use and it will be Lancs County's secretary Mike Rapley who will be the next victim - he's riding one in the Cumberland County two day trial on June 20/21.

Hit The Heights!
Friday, 19 June 2009 19:06

Useless information time now.

Chatting to Dave Taylor after the last evening trial (he's the landowner), and it was remarked how cold it was at Caton Moor, below the Windmills. Two days later came an e-mail with the heights in feet of all our start venues.

Approximate height above sea level in feet:

Bainsbeck Farm, Arkholme - 130ft

Barkingate Farm, Roeburndale - 650ft

Brookhouse Brickworks at the windmills - 890ft

Low Gill, Bentham - 750ft

Caton Moor (where we were on June 17) - 740ft

Ringstones, Bentham - 620ft

Whitewell (Good Friday trial) - 590ft

Drunkenbridge - 505ft
